The JA Project Gallery (CUTS Exclusive!)

6 June 2009 342 views 9 Comments

Jason, Lunice and I had the opportunity to check out an Art Gallery yesterday, and to say the least, it was an AMAZING experience. The artist, Marcus, was kind enough to invite CUTS to view his paintings at 341 Marin Blvd in DownTown Jersey City. Besides the delicious h’orderves, wines and exquisite selection of music, the scenery and professionalism of the whole event was quite astounding. dsc_1131We spoke to Marcus for a little while and he is a pretty cool dude. Not only is he highly talented in front of a canvas, but being that hes only 29 years of age, one can only imagine the effort it takes to stay completely focused, especially in the “Exciting World of Brain Numbing” we live in today. Marcus is a self taught artist who spent years developing his own style. Most of his inspiration has been formed from personal struggles and influential experiences throughout his life. After evaluating his art work, he seems to have a certain fascination with the female anatomy. Even though some of the works contain painted portraits of legends like Tupac, Bob Marley and Al Pacino (ScarFace), and others being ravishingly Abstract in content, the beauty captured in the paintings like this piece to the right are simply breathtaking. But of course you wont get these pieces off the wall for a small price! Though steep to some, the $800-$1600 price range for these canvases are well worth the money, why? Not only because the actual physical appearance of the artwork is phenomenal and very impressive, But each individual piece inflicts strong emotional reactions that create more than a simple “Yeah, Hes Good” response. And please do not get confused by the pictures we have taken, some of these dsc_1114pieces are BIG. I’m not really sure the actual sizes but if I had to “Guess-timate” the biggest one, I would say it was 42×30? This was definitely a “Grown and Sexy” event and the Marcus/CUTS relationship will continue to become tighter as time continues. We also want to give a big shout out to Jerry Almazan, who actually is the Owner of the JA Project Gallery. He is a MAJOR part of all of this, and we think he deserves some credit as well (We Got You Bro!!).
